She took aviation as an vocation in school. She participated in a race that’s was geared to flying time only from Iowa to New York. The winners have yet to be determined. Phoebe Omlie’s husband also was a pilot and he played a big role in her accomplishments as well. He was the chief pilot for a flying service.
