Captain Anderson

Title

Captain Anderson

Subject

Domesticity

Description

This letter from Lee Meriwether is in answer to an admonishment from Captain Anderson. Lee hasn’t been doing well in his lessons, and so Captain Anderson blamed it upon Lee’s attention to dress. Lee had sought out the advice of his mother, Liz, on this issue. Liz and Lee had come to the conclusion that it wasn’t his attention to his appearance, but rather his lack of attention to his lessons and reading novels. While he is going to continue to pay attention to his appearance, he is also going to pay greater attention to his lessons.
