Description

Rita Wilson graciously waves to the public as she wins the title of Miss Tennessee in 1961. Rita had also won the title of Miss Dixie. Her first foray into the world of acting was in Front Street Theatre's 1962 production of “Gypsy.” Newspapers speculated that her award-wining figure had something to do with he interest in her role in the play, which would require her to sing and striptease as the titular character.
